Anthony was born and raised in Staten Island. Anthony lost his dad to cancer at just 48 years old. Anthony was nine- teen and in college at the time. His dad was uninsured, leaving his mother with two sons and a mortgage to pay off, and no IRA / 401K / or retirement plan. His mother, who worked as a special education para at Anthony’s high school, could not fully support her family on her salary.

Anthony’s life changed in the blink of an eye. His father’s dying wish was for him to finish college. In order for Anthony to stay in school, he had to find a part time job so he could help with college expenses. When his friends were out having fun, Anthony was busy working to help pay for his schooling or studying finance. What weighed on Anthony’s mind more than anything was how his mother would turn to him and ask him for financial guidance and advice. At nineteen, what did he know? He felt helpless. He learned the hard way what it means to not have a financial plan set in place. He set out with a goal of trying to learn and understand everything he could about finance, so he could be better prepared in the future when he had his own family. With a lot of hard work, Anthony graduated with a B.A. degree fromHofstra University. He had helped to fulfill his father’s last wishes, and he was ready to start his new career. Because of his past experience, the passion that he had to help others be prepared for life’s lessons always stayed with Anthony. But he had to put that thought on hold for a while. It was about the same time that 9/11 happened, and during that period, it was tough finding a job in finance. During his finance hiatus, Anthony worked on the television show The Bachelor, for season five. He was the associate producer on the New York based season featuring then Bachelor, Charlie O'Connell. Anthony got back into finance in 2005 and began his career in the financial services industry as a Wealth Advisor for the Premiere Banking and Invest- ments division of Bank of America Investments/Merrill Lynch. In 2009, he and partner, Greg Guenther, started their own independent Planning Practice to better serve the needs of his clients. With six professional licenses/designations, Anthony is able to offer personalized investment strategies aimed at servicing, managing, and preserving the wealth of you and your family. Later on, because of Anthony’s business acumen, he was approached by two longtime friends about becoming a strategic partner in a manufacturing start-up. Anthony would help this company launch from prototype making in the garage, to the big stage of ABC’s hit show, Shark Tank, in less than 3 years. Anthony and then partners would be featured on Season 5 where they would strike a deal with their favorite Shark, Lori Greiner. their product, The Paint Brush Cover, can still be found in Home Depot’s Nationwide, amongst many other hardware stores throughout the U.S. They were a big success selling millions of Paint Brush Covers in just a few short years. In 2016, Anthony sold out of his part of the manufacturing business to continue building his Financial Planning practice. Anthony has always had a passion to help others and to be a mentor, both inside and outside of work. He and his wife Julia have been blessed with four children. Anthony is a man of values and tradition, and always makes time for his family. He is a coach for the Millstone Little League, co-head coach for the towns’ 10u tackle football team, along with his brother in law and fellow Millstoner, James Cortopassi. Anthony also sits on the Board of both leagues in town. Anthony was always involved in sports growing up, with his dad right by his side coaching him and teaching him not just how to play the sport, but how to be a team player. He also taught him how to work hard for what you want, and how to strive to be a leader. Looking back, Anthony realized that all the coaching from his dad was not just about how to play the game, but rather how to get by in life. Anthony’s goals, as coach of his children’s sports teams, is to instill in tomorrow’s leaders all the valuable lessons he carries with him today. A:

Platelet Rich Plasma erapy also referred to as PRP erapy, is a progressive non-surgical treatment to treat a variety of conditions including arthritis, ten- don injuries, and ligament injuries. PRP is part of a group of state-of-the-art treatments collectively referred to as Regenerative Medicine. PRP treats an injured area naturally using your body’s own growth factors to accelerate healing. It has been shown to be safe and e ec- tive for numerous joint and so tissue injuries. It has been extensively researched in numerous medical journals and publications all over the world. Some of the many uses of Platelet Rich Plasma include osteoarthritis (degenera- tive arthritis) of the spine, knee, shoulder, hip, hands, and feet, as well as menis- cus tears, plantar fasciitis, and rotator cu tears. e procedure is simple and is performed in the o ce. e PRP process begins when a small amount of the patient’s blood is removed from the arm and placed into a special container. e blood is then placed into a device called a centri- fuge which spins the blood to help the separate the portion of the blood which becomes concentrated with platelets, thereby giving the procedure its name. ese platelets are important because they release growth factors to recruit stem cells and to assist in healing an injured area naturally. Once the PRP is isolated, it is injected to the injured area under the guidance of an ultrasound machine to help accelerate healing and reduce pain.

is healing works on the simple principle that your body is perfectly capable of healing itself. Your blood contains all the essential components that the body produces to repair tissue damage. Each time you have an injury, the platelets in your blood along with growth factors, stem cells, cytokines, and other elements create a sca olding on the site. e damaged tissues use this framework to regenerate and repair. e entire process takes approximately one hour, and pa- tients are sent home the same day. Patients on average report more than 50% improvement in 6 weeks and up to 100% improvement in 12 weeks. is may eliminate the need for more aggressive and expensive treatment options such as long-term medication or surgery. In a recent study, researchers at Hospital for Special Surgery gave patients with early osteoarthritis an injection of PRP and then monitored them for one year. A er one year of the PRP injection, physicians evaluated the knee cartilage with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). While previous studies have shown that patients with osteoarthritis can lose roughly ve percent of knee cartilage per year, the Hospital for Special Surgery investigators found that a large majority of patients in their study had no further cartilage loss. At minimum PRP also prevented further knee deterioration.

4th Annual Om Memorial 5K Run and 1M Walk Event Ram Ranganath, on behalf of Om Foundation

Registration is now underway for the 4th Annual OmMemorial 5K Run and 1MWalk that will be taking place on Sunday, September 12th @ 8:30am at Thompson Park, Monroe, NJ - This event is being organized in memory of childhood cancer patient Om Parikh to help raise funds in support of the charitable services of the Om Foundation. To learn more about the Om Foundation, spon- sorship opportunities, and to support its philanthropic efforts, visit www.smilesforom.org During his three years as a student at the Monroe Township Middle School, Om Parikh was well loved and popular. His teachers said there wasn’t a single child who didn’t know him. This love and popularity were evident at the Thompson Park in person events in both May 2018 and 2019, when over 1200 people of all ages participated in a 5K Run and 1MWalk in memory of the 13-year-old who lost his battle to brain cancer in February of 2018. Wearing green and purple T-shirts, created by Om’s sister Yashaswi Parikh, people from Monroe and beyond showed up despite predictions of rain and a thunderstorm. As everyone

got ready for the 1M walk, the sun brightened and skies cleared, symbolizing “Om smiling down upon the crowd,” the announcer noted. Middle-schoolers and volun- teers held placards of encouragement while cheering on the sea of green and purple created by the walkers and runners throughout the course. Many were motivated to run for the first time. They celebrated their achievements while supporting pediatric cancer awareness and research, one of the foundation’s goals. The OmMemorial 5K Run and1MWalk is organized every year by Monroe Indians for Civic Action (MICA) with the support of local organizations, Monroe Town- ship Schools, Municipality and Middlesex County. There is teamwork of over two and half months of extensive planning by MICA and the community at large. The day always opens with Om’s favorite songs sung by students, a poster session on Cancer Awareness by Monroe Township Middle School, messages from the Mayor of Monroe Township, Teaching Staff and Principal of MTMS, School District Superintendent, Om’s Family and friends. The Middle School Chorus sings the National Anthem. The event exemplifies a message of strength and optimism that Om brought to other students and the whole community.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, the Foundation’s 2020 race was virtual with people from all over the country running and walking in support of our cause. Even during the chilly October weekend, the event drew 750 participants from Texas, Florida, California, and even Canada! Participants posted their race adventures which were then featured on the Foundation’s social media pages, showing people at college campuses and smaller Jersey neighborhoods. While we hope to host an in-person event this year in 2021, the Foundation is well-equipped to handle another virtual race should any restrictions change. The Om Foundation supports various programs and initiatives that bring smiles, positive attitude, and the power of perseverance to school age children. It supports youth development and community en- gagement. The Om Foundation also provides financial and other assistance to children fighting cancer, as well as support for education and research that helps prevent or terminate childhood cancer. Over the last year, the Om Foundation has helped many local families and children. It provided fi- nancial support to a Monroe family by covering the cost of medical insurance for the three children of the family, who lost their mother to cancer and whose father had been in a coma. It helped advance the aspirations of a special needs gymnast in Monroe Township by covering the cost of private training

and classes. The young lady went on to win 4 gold medals and 1 silver medal at the US Special Olympics. The Foundation also established the Om Parikh Memorial Award for Optimism at Monroe Township Middle School - this financial award will be presented annually to an 8th grade student who meets the criteria that exudes a positive attitude on a daily basis, encourages others-- peers and adults--to be positive and optimistic, demonstrates an intrinsic desire to improve the world around him / her. The first award was given out in June 2018 to a deserving student at the MTMS. The Monroe Township Middle School (MTMS), in memory of Om Parikh, donated to the Hugs for Brady Foundation – a foundation dedicated to helping children with childhood cancers. The Monroe Township library was able to enhance its children and tween area through the support of the Om Foundation. The Foundation donated a huge LEGO table for kids to enjoy and painted a window mural in the tween-area, displaying the love of learning and optimistic view that Om shared. FOOD & DINING Cream Ridge Golf Course to Host Special September 11 th Concert By Pam Teel

The owners of the Cream Ridge golf course, an 18 hole, championship regulation length course, will be using a large open area by their driving range to host a live concert on September 11th 2021. The concert will be a tribute to those people, police, firemen, and first responders, whose lives were taken on that fateful day. It also marks the 20th anniversary of this horrific attack that was felt around the world. Organizer, Mary Jones, is very passionate about bringing this concert to her community. “So many people suffered mentally from the covid pandemic,” Mary stated. “I want to bring back the feeling of what it was like before we were all cooped up and shut in. Hopefully this will be a feel good experience for people; a sense of getting back to normalcy and a reminder of the togetherness we used to feel as a community and nation. Even our police forces have been beaten down by political banter and the media. I want to bring back the support for our brave men in blue, and all of the responders and volunteers who gave their lives on the front line that day.” With a capacity to fit 500 cars, and 1500-1800 people on the property, this event will prove to be truly the event of the year, with three local bands performing. The Best of the Eagles Tribute Band- This band, with players fromNew York and New Jersey, captures the instru- mental and vocal prowess of the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers with decades of experience. Its founder, producer, and singer/songwriter Joe Vadala (guitar, vocals) has performed nationally with such artists as Buzzy Linhart, La Bamba and the Hubcaps, Joey and the Works, Poetic Justice, and more. His music is published through Polygram Universal International, and he has opened for many national acts and performed as part of the premier house bands at the world-renowned Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey. Marc Hoffman (drums, vocals) was a founding member of the popular New Jersey-based band Prophet and has performed with Rock City featuring Tom Fuller. He was also a member of the band Race who performed two original songs for the cult classic movie “The Toxic Avenger.” Hoffman is an accomplished singer, songwriter, drummer, and producer and has written for many artists, including Japan’s bestselling artist Miho Nakayama. In addition to his extensive live musical career, he has also written and performed music for NBC and CBS soap operas.

John Bushnell (rhythm, lead and slide guitars, vocals) has been a cutting-edge and well-respected player for years. Countless recording sessions of every genre, an endorsement with Ibanez guitars, and record deals with Sutra Records and Epic Records are all part of his musical history. He has played with Billy Cobham (Ma- havishnu Orchestra), James Cotton, Michael Tschudin (David Bowie), and Charles Collins (The Jackson 5, Elton John) and released a critically acclaimed album, “7th Sense,” in the U.S. and Europe. Jerry Steele (guitar, pedal steel, vocals) has worked as a performer and session player with a wide array of artists, including Emmylou Harris, Buddy Miller, Mike Auldridge, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and Nile Rodgers. A multi-instrumentalist, arranger, producer, and session player, Dan “Dano” Miller (bass, vocals) has per- formed and recorded with numerous Philadelphia and New Jersey-based groups, including In the Fur, Linus the Moon, Almost Green, Shaun Ruymen, Jay Liberatore, the Pete Beck Band, and the Rich Scannella Group. Fish Tacos with Watermelon Salsa Tip: How healthy is this recipe? Fish with omega-3, watermelon full of antioxidants, and lots of ther fruits and veggies. Feel free to add other veggies that you like to the tacos as well. INGREDIENTS: FOR THE WATERMELON SALSA: • 4 cups cubed seedless watermelon • 1/2 small onion, diced • 1/2 cup roughly chopped cilantro • Juice of 2 limes FOR THE FISH TACOS: • 2 pounds of white striped bass filets • (cod, tilapia, and almost any kind of fish works well too!) • 8 corn tortillas • 1 romaine heart, shredded 1 sliced avocado • Salt • 1 tsp. olive oil Directions:

Make the tacos: Brush the fish with olive oil and grill on high until cooked through, about 5 minutes on each side. When finished, cut the fish into bite-sized pieces. Warm the tortillas over the grill if you please, then put the fish, watermelon salsa, avocado and lettuce into the tortilla. Serve and enjoy.

KIDS First Newell Award Honors Allentown Graduate Kaydee Molnar

Kaydee Molnar’s lifelong fascination with the stories that make up local history led her to projects decorating Allentown’s Main Street, planting bulbs in an historic cemetery, and playing the flute for the holidays. It also earned her the distinction of being named the first-ever recipient of the William Augustus Newell Award, presented to her by The Allentown Village Initiative (TAVI) in conjunction with her recent graduation from Allentown High School. Kaydee credits her grandfather with sowing the seeds of her interest in history. He was an avid Civil War re-enactor, which made quite an impression on Kaydee as a young child. Once she started high school Kaydee sought out history-related courses and activities, taking advanced classes and becom- ing a member of the History Honor Society. The Society, in turn, introduced Kaydee to TAVI and its many community projects. It wasn’t long before she found herself helping out at TAVI’s Harvest Fest table and playing the flute for Allentown’s Christmas events. A bit less glamorous (perhaps) was her work helping to install and later store the life-sized Victorian figures which grace Main Street at times throughout the year, and then all of the digging needed to help plant about 900 daffodil bulbs around the Olde Burying Ground on Lakeview Drive. Kaydee said she values all of her experiences at events and projects around Allentown that have brought people together to interact and help preserve the area’s history. She’s looking forward to con- tinuing her community involvement as she embarks on the path to becoming a licensed electrician. The five-year apprenticeship for which she’s applied will eventually lead her to the status of “journey- man” in her chosen profession. The Newell Award was named in honor of one of Allentown’s most prominent citizens. New Jersey’s 18th Governor, Washington Territory’s 11th Governor, a member of Congress, physician and Allen- town resident, William Augustus Newell was also the founder of the US Coast Guard. The Newell Award recognizes outstanding service to the Allentown community and specifically, significant and tangible contributions in the areas of historic preservation and education, natural resource protec- tion, support of the local business community and advancement of the arts and culture. The TAVI Board noted that, while consistently and repeatedly sharing her time and talent, Kaydee displayed leadership qualities, responsibility and initiative together with a spirit of volunteerism and good citi- zenship in service to our community. The Newell Award includes a $250 honorarium. TAVI is a 501(c)(3) volunteer driven organization dedicated to improving the quality of life in and around Allentown. Whether it’s helping to beautify the town’s public spaces, restoring and protecting our historic structures, promoting our small businesses, or providing a forum for the arts and culture, TAVI has our community’s best interests at heart. 5 th ANNUAL VETERANS AND KID’S WISH’N TO GO FISH’N By Pam Teel

Last year organizers combined the Play HOOK-e Take a Veteran Fishing Day with the Kid’s Wish’n to go Fish’n program. The Veterans really enjoyed the day of fishing and being there, hands on, to help youngsters learn to fish during the event. Veterans and children, with disabilities and other special needs, are welcome to register for the 5th Annual Kid’s Wish’n to go Fish’n and Play HOOK-e Take a Veteran Fishing Day at Ponderosa Estates Farm in Millstone Township. Don Marantz, Event Chairman, Vito Cardinale of Cardinale Enterpris- es, and Randy Johnson, of Laurita Winery, always make this a fun event for children with disabilities and those with other special needs. The event includes a fun day of fishing for children, disabled veterans, and active-duty military from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. It’s being held this year on Saturday, August 21st (9:00 a.m. - till 2:00 p.m.) The goal of the fishing day for all involved is to feel the health benefits of getting in touch with na- ture, and to help limit PTSD symptoms, while making good memories with friends and family. Attendees and their guests are invited to this, catch and release, fishing event at Lake Julianna, and then afterwards, they get to enjoy a free Barbeque, complete with hamburgers and hotdogs, soft drinks, pizza, ice cream, and other goodies. Admission is free, but registration is mandatory through EventBrite>>Play HOOK-e. Disabled Veterans and special needs children with mobility challenges will have use of 4x4 transportation around the lake, along with fishing assistance if needed. Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing Jer- sey Shore Chapter will assist with fly fishing instruction. Boating Education and Rescue (B.E.A.R.)

KIDS 2021 New Jersey Little League State Champions Millstone Redbird’s 10u Girls Softball Team Wins it All! By Pam Teel

Congratulations to the girls and their coaches on the Mill- stone Redbirds softball team for taking the State Champion- ship on Sunday, July 25th! This first year little league team was made up of players from both Millstone and Upper Freehold. According to Erick Si- monds, the manager of the 10uMillstone Redbirds team, “The hallmark of the team was in its, dominant pitching, strong hitting, and exemplary defense.” In the first round of the Little League tournament trail, the Redbirds captured the New Jersey District 12 Championship, hosted by Robbinsville, against a tough Bordentown team (going 2-0 on the tournament). Then, next up was the New Jersey Section 3 Tournament, hosted by SouthWall. Millstone opened game one with a 10-0 mercy victory over Sayreville, which set the tone for the section tournament. Victories in games two and three, against Marlboro and Hol- brook, respectively, thrust Millstone back into the Champi- onship against a gritty Marlboro team.

The Section 3 Championship game, on a hot and humid Sat- urday morning, was a story of dominant pitching and timely hitting, which led to a 6-1 victory. The Redbirds captured the District and Section titles with a combined record of 6-0 with 54 runs for and 7 runs against over that stretch.

The State of New Jersey is made up of 4 Sections, for which the champions of each section gathered for the State Championship in Hanover, NJ this past July. The task proved to be a difficult one as the Redbirds faced three other elite teams, who have accomplished similar feats to earn the entry into the State Championship. Guided by three basic principles- focus, fun, and teamwork, the Redbirds peaked at the opportune time to challenge for the State Championship to accomplish their goal of becoming the 2021, New Jersey Little League 8-9-10 Softball State Champions. The Millstone team was dominant from the start of the tournament trail, averaging over 10 runs scored per game and giving up just over 1 run per game over the nine game stretch. The level of competition grew stronger at each successive stage and Millstone found themselves facing two similar undefeated teams (Hanover LL and Waterford LL) in the State Championships. Not to be intimidated, The Redbirds relied upon their team expe- rience and knocked off both previously undefeated opponents 12-2 and 13-2, respectively. The gritty Hanover LL team charged back, winning the Consolation Bracket, to make an appearance in the State Championship Finals against the Redbirds. A complete team effort in the championship led the Millstone Redbirds to victory, winning 14-1. Aside from manager/coach, Erick Simonds, the other coaches included, Rick Franckowiak, Matt Maltese, and Chris Zambrio. The players include: Kaity Zambrio #1, Jayleen Hallahan #2, Sophia Renelt #5, Katelyn Franckowiak #6, Anna Simonds #7, Savannah Barry #9, Gabby Tate #12, Julia Centanni #14, Sophia Reiner #20, Lyla Caruso #5, Alyx George #81, and Bella Maltese #99. Stats: 93 runs for 12 runs against over 9 games. 9-0 Undefeated Postseason / NJ District 12 Champs / NJ Section 3 Champs/ NJ State Champs Congratulations to the girls and coaches for a job well done and well deserved!
