Q: LEADERS IN LEAST INVASIVE PAIN & SPINE PROCEDURES How can Platelet Rich Plasma Treatment Help Shoulder and Knee Pain?

A:

Platelet Rich Plasma erapy also referred to as PRP erapy, is a progressive non-surgical treatment to treat a variety of conditions including arthritis, ten- don injuries, and ligament injuries. PRP is part of a group of state-of-the-art treatments collectively referred to as Regenerative Medicine. PRP treats an injured area naturally using your body’s own growth factors to accelerate healing. It has been shown to be safe and e ec- tive for numerous joint and so tissue injuries. It has been extensively researched in numerous medical journals and publications all over the world. Some of the many uses of Platelet Rich Plasma include osteoarthritis (degenera- tive arthritis) of the spine, knee, shoulder, hip, hands, and feet, as well as menis- cus tears, plantar fasciitis, and rotator cu tears. e procedure is simple and is performed in the o ce. e PRP process begins when a small amount of the patient’s blood is removed from the arm and placed into a special container. e blood is then placed into a device called a centri- fuge which spins the blood to help the separate the portion of the blood which becomes concentrated with platelets, thereby giving the procedure its name. ese platelets are important because they release growth factors to recruit stem cells and to assist in healing an injured area naturally. Once the PRP is isolated, it is injected to the injured area under the guidance of an ultrasound machine to help accelerate healing and reduce pain.

is healing works on the simple principle that your body is perfectly capable of healing itself. Your blood contains all the essential components that the body produces to repair tissue damage. Each time you have an injury, the platelets in your blood along with growth factors, stem cells, cytokines, and other elements create a sca olding on the site. e damaged tissues use this framework to regenerate and repair. e entire process takes approximately one hour, and pa- tients are sent home the same day. Patients on average report more than 50% improvement in 6 weeks and up to 100% improvement in 12 weeks. is may eliminate the need for more aggressive and expensive treatment options such as long-term medication or surgery. In a recent study, researchers at Hospital for Special Surgery gave patients with early osteoarthritis an injection of PRP and then monitored them for one year. A er one year of the PRP injection, physicians evaluated the knee cartilage with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). While previous studies have shown that patients with osteoarthritis can lose roughly ve percent of knee cartilage per year, the Hospital for Special Surgery investigators found that a large majority of patients in their study had no further cartilage loss. At minimum PRP also prevented further knee deterioration.

Past Life Regression By Pam Teel

Past Life Regression is a technique that uses a low form of hypnosis to recover what practitioners believe are memories of the past. It’s a therapeutic technique for accessing and re-experiencing a person’s past lives or incarnations based on the theory that your reactions and the way you respond to problems are based in the past. It’s a holistic therapy that works with a person as a whole, not just body and mind, but your emotions and spirit as well. It seems to help with issues where you can’t find any direct cause. You could spend a whole lifetime not ever being able to un- cover the source of your problem. Regression therapy allows the client to unlock emotions and experiences stored deep within their memory. Past life regression is often linked to reincarnation. Of course, not everyone believes in reincarnation. Reincarnation, also known as rebirth or transmigration, is the philosophical or religious concept that the non-physical essence of a living being begins a new life in a different physical form or body after biological death. Some people try past life regression simply out of curiosity; others use it to try to find explanations as to why they act or feel a certain way, even if there is no just cause for it. For example, a person, I once met, had a fear of being in or on the ocean. In this lifetime, he has never had any reason to fear the water, but could not even fathom wading in shallow water. Through a past life regression session, he was able to remember certain details as to why he was so afraid of water. He remembered that he was on a large ship in the ocean, time frame World War II, and he remembered his ship being hit by a torpedo. He remembered that the ship was sinking and that he had to jump into the ocean. He was cold and scared, and remembered treading water for hours.

He couldn’t remember what happened after that, whether he lived or died, but it did leave a traumatic effect on him in this lifetime; enough for him to turn down a free cruise with the company that he worked for. After the regression session, he at least he had some idea as to why he was so afraid of water, particularly the ocean. Past life regression is an active therapy whereby a client fully participates in the process. It works best when a person has a specific intent. It takes place in a quiet atmosphere when you are in a peaceful state, which makes it far easier to locate the memories held in your subconscious minds. The practioner would then be able to guide you, through some sort of guided meditation, in order to help find the root cause of the problem. Such problems might include: relationships, vivid dreams or nightmares, chronic illnesses, fears or phobias for no apparent reason, addictions, feelings like you’ve been somewhere before, if you feel stuck in your life, and more. How the session is run varies on the practioner. Some people may experience little bits and pieces of their past life, while others might see more, as if being an observer in a movie, down to significant details like clothing they were wearing or their environmental surroundings. It’s also been well documented that there are many young children who can remember their past lives, complete with names and details of their life before, whether they were a man or a woman, and the traumatic events that lead up to their previous death. These children exhibit genuine fear of certain things, without any explanation of why. An example of this is, if someone remembers dying from a plane crash in a past life, they might be afraid to go on a plane to the point where they are having continuous nightmares and anxiety about planes. There is a series on A & E; you can also find it on You Tube. It’s called, “The Ghost inside my Child.” It tells about some of the experiences that these young children are having with past life memories. Many children tend to forget these memories as they grow older, but some don’t. With help and a certain amount of closure, a child can move on from their past life memories and live a happy normal life. With continued therapy, once they have found the source of the problem, an adult can learn to move past his afflictions. I recently took a class given by local Millstone resident, Phyllis Mitchell, who is a psychic medium. Phyllis holds classes at her house, gives readings, reads tarot cards, and has just recently released her new book, “Believe, Do You? A psychic Mediums Journey.” Her special guest speaker was a former Millstone Resident named Mi- chele. I had the opportunity to interview Michele about the topic of past life regressions. Michele had always had a connection with Angels. When she was a child, she would often have out of body experiences. It didn’t seem out of the ordinary to her because she thought, at the time, that everyone experienced the same thing as she was. Both her mother and grandmother were also intuitive. Michele guided our group in a past life regression session. In Michele’s own words, “Past Life Regression takes a person back to a previous life-for the sake of interest or to remove blocks, fears or behaviors, that have been carried to their present life. The cells of our being carry the memories of our past lives.” During Past Life Regression, not only, does the individual go back to see the origin of a particular behavior or perspective, but it is possible to go back and change or remove the experience, so it no longer exists, and therefore, no longer affects the person’s present life. Things like weight loss might begin almost immediately, there-after the regression; whether the person experienced a famine or a situation that caused them to believe that they should be larger, for protection or warmth, or to be able to sustain their life. For example, a woman was regressed and observed that she, as an attractive, slender woman, had been attacked, so according to her perspective, she was safer, if she was heavier (of course, she hadn’t realized this, until after the regression). This regression resulted in a natural adjustment in her eating behaviors, and she began shedding the unwanted weight. Often times, relationships with others, including family, friends and co workers, are improved, due to what is observed in the past life regression. There are those who have repetitive cycles in their lives, that do not serve them, such as, romantic relationships that play out, only to be repeated; these too can be changed. When an individual is regressed, they are guided into a deep meditative state, and then guided and asked questions to encourage them to view many aspects of the past life. The subject observes and brings back information to write down and discuss afterwards with the facilitator. In a meditative state, your brain is in Theta, which means that its frequency is only 4-8Hz. You’re deeply relaxed and your focus is inward; whereas, during your wak- ing state, (Beta), the frequency is 12-35Hz, and obviously much more active. Michele also offers Clutter Clearing, which is a spiritually focused way of cleaning and clearing clutter from your space, whether it’s drawers, closets, whole rooms or the entire house. This can be done in timed increments, so as not to become overwhelmed, although it can be an intensive day or week long journey. It can be done room by room or categorically. All clutter clearing Begins with a meditation to connect spiritually with the home. She also does Space Clearing, which is an energetic clearing of a space. This process clears negativity and stagnant energy, using sage and Angelic Energy, whether it is a home or a business. She guides others in connecting with their spaces and Clutter Clearing. Michele also gives talks and guides meditations for groups or individ- uals as well as for Past Life Regressions. Miss New Jersey Teen USA By Pam Teel

Gianna Giacolona, from Millstone Township, will be a junior this coming fall at The Biotechnology High School in Freehold, NJ. She will soon be try- ing out for the Miss New Jersey Teen title. Her future plans include going on to college, and then Medical School, where she will focus her attentions on a degree in the Neurological field. Her deep interests in Neurology has stemmed from her own personal experiences with close family members who have suffered different neurological conditions. Gianna never saw herself as a pageant person, but when she read about the 2019 Miss New Jersey Teen, who had won, she changed her mind. With the pageant comes a lot of opportunities and a platform to speak up about top- ics that are close to her heart. She would be able to speak out more about people who suffer from neurological conditions; conditions that affect their brains, spinal cords and nervous systems. She would be able to find ways to, perhaps, make their lives a little better. Gianna also is an advocate for female empowerment; which include topics such as, civil rights, and women in the workplace. She also wants to give younger people a voice, a chance to speak up for themselves. Gianna is on the right path. Biotechnology High School students are se- lected through a highly competitive application and admissions process. The school population represents a cross section of students frommore than thir- ty resident districts throughout Monmouth County. BTHS provides students with an exceptional educational experience through a college preparatory curriculum emphasizing research, laboratory skills, critical thinking, prob- lem solving, technology, leadership, and teamwork. Gianna loves science and loves what she is learning in school. She doesn’t mind being called a ‘Geek.’ She also loves reading, and writing, and is not afraid to speak in front of a large audience. When she was at the Millstone Middle School, she was involved with her school theater group. She thor- oughly enjoyed performing in the school plays, which, she says, attributed to her lack of fear of speaking in front of a large audience. Gianna is one of a kind. You can best describe her as, “Down to Earth.” She is open and honest, and accepts all others as equals. She loves to embrace other people’s lifestyles and cultures. Gianna is part of the Environmental Club at her school. She is also the Ser-

vice Director for the Students Service Club; where the students volunteer their time to help others in the community. Their volunteering includes things like, holding food drives, or speaking in front of Middle School children about science topics. They have also reached out to child refugees around the world, sending them video book recordings that they made for them. Gianna will also have the honor of being Class President this coming fall. The Pageant will take place on July 30th at the Hilton Hotel in Parsippany. This pageant is the preliminary to the Miss Teen USA pageant, and it is a part of the Miss Universe Organization. Gianna is so grateful to the businesses that helped sponsor her journey. They include: Albivi's, Vesuvios, Millstone Family Pharmacy, Retro Fitness, Gianmarco's, RenoTec Construction, Monroe Orthodontics, Bronze Age Tanning, and many family and friends. We wish you much luck, Gianna. There are only leaders and followers in this world. Leaders think and talk about solutions. Followers think and talk about the problems. We already know which one you are! Always speak what is dearest to your heart and lead the way for others!

KIDS HEWYBL Launches All-Girls Youth Flag Football League The Hightstown-East Windsor Youth Sports League (HEWYBL), Central New Jersey’s premier NFL Flag Football League has announced the formation of an all-girl’s flag football league. The league will launch in Fall 2021 and is open to girls aged 4-18. Registration for the league will run through August 10. The season will open on September 8 and run through mid-November. It will consist of 10 regular season games, plus playoff games. Full details on the season, as well as registration information, can be found at www.HEWYBL.com. Games will be held at Disbrow Hills Park in East Windsor. HEWYBL has run a co-ed recreational NFL Flag league since 1998. The program has grown to nearly 800 annual participants. Players do not have to reside in a specific town to participate. “We surveyed parents and players in the area and believe there is a desire for a girls league,” said Eric Updegraff, HEWYBL’s flag football commissioner. “Not all girls want to play in a co-ed environment, and we hope this will attract involvement among girls to this great game. Kids just have a blast playing and the more kids we can get out there, the better.” More than 1.5 million youth participate in flag football nationwide, and female flag football participation has grown significantly over the last several years. Currently, Alabama, Georgia and Florida offer flag football as a high school sport. Many others are close behind. In New Jersey, the New York Jets and Nike have partnered with the North Jersey Super Football Conference, while the New York Giants and Nike have partnered with the Shore Conference to launch pilot programs for girl’s high school flag football. Play in both leagues began this spring. At the collegiate level, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has partnered with the NFL and Reigning Champs Experiences (RCX) to bring collegiate women’s flag football to its member institutions. The first-ever NAIA Women’s Flag Football Finals were hosted at Mer- cedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta in May, capping off its inaugural season. In addition, the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), in partnership with the NFL and RCX, has announced women’s flag football as an emerging sport with plans to start playing in 2022. Thirty NJCAA programs have already committed to adding women’s flag football, and more than 60 are expected in the second year. “Opportunities to play in high school and college are clearly on the horizon,” said Updegraff. “Our league will help create a pipeline to schools that will eventually offering flag football. HEWYBL is a 501c3 Corporation run by volunteers who choose to make a difference in the lives of their children and those around them. The or- ganization began in 1968 and continues to create opportunities for the children throughout Central New Jerseys to participate in many types of youth sports. Currently HEWYBL offers four recreational sports programs: flag football, basketball, wrestling and baseball. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PLAYING FLAG FOOTBALL? 1. No Contact: Flag football is a non-contact sport, meaning there’s no tackling, diving, blocking, screening or fumbles allowed. Therefore, players aren’t required to wear any heavy equipment, such as helmets and shoulder pads. This creates an approachable atmosphere where kids can learn how to play and develop their skills without the aspect of physical contact. 2. Accessibility: Flag football is an incredibly inclusive sport and opens the doors to many players, including female athletes. 3. Learn the fundamentals: There’s a common myth that flag football doesn’t prepare kids for tackle football for those who want to eventually transfer to tackle — and that simply isn’t true. The basic fundamentals taught in flag football directly transfer to tackle, including catching, throwing, for- mations, routes, and defensive skills. For example, the way defensive players are required to square up their body and align their head and knees is the exact positioning needed to physically tackle an opponent. 4. Easy commitment: With most leagues only meeting once per week, many families happily squeeze flag football into their packed schedules. Typi- cally, teams practice once a week for an hour, and games typically take an hour. 5. It’s fun! Plain and simple, flag football is loads of fun. With fewer players on the field, there’s more engagement and a faster speed of play. Games are quick, competitive and every drive count. It’s the version of football you loved playing in your backyard — why ever stop? Season details can be viewed at www.HEWYBL.com. To register, go to www.HEWYBL.com and select REGISTER at the upper right-hand corner. If you have any questions about HEWYBL Flag Football or the upcoming season, please contact hewyblflag@optimum.net.

KIDS Central Jersey Aces 8U Travel Baseball Team

We played in the Medford John Cobb Memori- al Killer B Tournament in Medford, NJ this past weekend. The Aces opened the 5 team tournament on Saturday with a 12-11 win over Moorestown, behind great pitching from Brayden Childs, Shane Roth, Brayden Gietka and Jackson Stives. Timely hitting from Chase Miller, Ryan Zolnowski, Mikey Kearney and Francesco Giampa, along with excel- lent defensive play from Andrew Bartony, contrib- uted to the victory. In the second game Saturday, the Aces dropped a close game 9-8 to Cinnaminson. On Sunday, the Aces drew the #3 seed and faced #2 seed Moorestown again in the semi-final, this time winning by a score of 7-4. After 2 shutout innings from Brayden Childs, Joseph Masters stepped up pitching 2 solid innings for the first time, while Jackson Stives closed the game out for the Aces. In the tournament championship, the Aces again faced #1 seed Cinnaminson. Again, the Aces got two shutout innings from Brayden Childs, and 2 more innings out of Shane Roth on the mound. The Aces got out to an ear- ly lead, but saw Cinnaminson re-take the lead in the bottom of the 5th inning. Down 7-6 with three outs to go, Brayden Childs led off with a single and quickly stole second base. Ryan Zolnowski fol- lowed with a groundout that scored Childs from second to tie the game. After Shane Roth singled, John Stefani came up to bat with the game tied and two outs. He blasted a ball down the left field line for an RBI triple, scoring Roth from first base with

the go-ahead run. The Aces went on to add another insurance run on Vince Salvo's clutch RBI single, to make it a 9-7 game. Jackson Stives came in and got the save, fielding his position well, along with help from Andrew Bartony at second base, stranding runners on second and third with no outs to close the game.

The team was just started back in late April, and this was our first time playing together. We are hosting the Princeton 8U travel team next Wednesday at 6:00 PM at the MRLL fields and will be playing in the Monroe Twp. Make-A-Wish Fundraiser Tournament July 8-11 coming up next.
