MHI-CONSULTING, INC. ChristineWorkman, MHI Consulting

T iming is everything, right? In January of 2020, Christine Workman and her colleague, Brian Meridth, decided that they were tired of the commute from southern New Jersey to NYC while working at an elevator consulting/ engineering firm. They decided to open a company of their own. Who knew that six weeks later the entire world would shut down? It’s was a rough start, but things are definitely looking up. So what exactly does an elevator consulting firm do? Basically everything except the installation. MHI-Consulting, Inc. assists with matching the right equipment to your building based on size, usage, and occupancy. We write new construction & modernization specifications, review equipment layouts submitted by the installer, verify pricing and the installation schedule. As your project progresses, we do site visits to verify that everything is being done according to the specifications and on time. Elevators and Escalators are such an enigma to many people. MHI-Consulting, Inc. was formed as full-service vertical transportation (aka elevators & escalators) consulting firm to be the owner’s representative when dealing with the elevator companies, which can be frustrating, to say the least. We translate the terminology to put everyone on a level playing field and discuss the interface between the elevators and all other trades.

One of our favorite things to do at MHI- Consulting, Inc. is to educate the customers. Lunch & Learns, one-on-one equipment evaluations, and maintenance audits are always available on request. Elevators are one of the most expensive parts of a building so it’s important to make sure it’s done right and will last for years. There is no one size fits all. MHI-Consultinjg, Inc. gets involved in projects at various stages with both public and private agencies. • Architects / Engineering / Construction Firms • Property Owners / Managers / Condo Associations

We joke with our clients that our job is to work ourselves out of a job. MHI-Consutling, Inc. wants to find our customers the best elevator company for the job at the best price and hopefully, they will never need us again. Except for Maintenance Audits and/or state inspections.

• Hospitals / Healthcare • Hospitality Industry

(Hotels, Casinos, Cruise Ships)

• Colleges & Universities • Government Agencies / Transit Authorities

For 2022, MHI-Consulting, Inc. has started offering OSHA 10 & 30 training. No point in having an authorized OSHA trainer on staff and not make sure the people we work with are being safe. Construction can be a dangerous business and we want everyone to make it home at the end of every day.
