NJBA UPDATE

A Message from NJBA President JOSH MANN, ESQ

As the newly installed President of NJBA, I’m humbled to be tacking the helm at a time of great challenge but also great opportunity. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed us and our businesses in immeasurable ways. My predecessor Michael Canuso was instrumental in guiding NJBA through the darkest days of the pandemic and I’m thankful that his leadership enabled our association to remain vigilant throughout the past year. The global economy suffered a great contraction but is now poised to rebound as hope of the pandemic wanning increases. Despite this optimism, there are still major challenges facing the economy and our industry. Increasing costs of development and the overwhelming demand for housing has highlighted the imperative need for our industry to create additional supply. As I referenced at Shore’s recent event at the Toms River Yacht Club, it is time for home builders to embrace this demand and change the narrative surrounding home building. New Jersey’s housing shortage is affecting residents of all income levels and especially those seeking their first home. Our industry is positioned to deliver one of today’s most valued and sought-after commodities, housing. NJBA launched the #bringingpeoplehomes social media campaign last year to highlight the work of our members, both builders and associates, who are working to provide our fellow New Jerseyans shelter. I encourage our members to continue to use the hashtag to support NJBA as we target our advocacy strategy. It’s crucial

we highlight how many are employed directly and indirectly by the home building industry. The pandemic has changed the way we work and network. While I am optimistic that we will soon be gathering in person, we now have a new virtual networking tool at our disposal, the NJBA Neighborhood. The Neighborhood is essentially NJBA’s own private social media network that allows members share news, discuss issues of importance to our industry, get answers to questions about new laws and regulations, promote their businesses, network with fellow members and more. I encourage anyone with a question or issue to post in one of the discussions groups and connect with fellow members. Finally, I want to take the opportunity to thank our members who have supported NJBA over the past year. The pandemic has challenged us all in unique ways but our membership never wavered in support of NJBA. I look forward to celebrating the progress we have made and seeing you all again in person at the 2021 Atlantic Builders Convention, Oct 11-13.

Josh Mann, Esq. NJBA President

Wishing you the best Josh Mann, Esq.
