These range from low level motor vehicle violations such as going through a stop sign, careless driving, failure to maintain your lane and other charges that generally carry very low fines and two or less motor vehicle points. If you have been charged with any motor vehicle violation that carries more than two motor vehicle points upon a conviction, we suggest that you obtain the advice of counsel before going to court. The purpose of this article is to provide the reader with some information as to whether or not they need legal representation in Municipal Court on a low-level motor vehicle violation that carries two or less motor vehicle points. As most citizens of New Jersey know, municipal prosecutors will, generally, as a matter of course offer a “no point” or “zero point” violation as part of a plea bargain if you are charged with one of these low-level motor vehicle violations. The monetary cost of these “no point” or “zero point” violations are rather excessive in that you are required to pay a $250.00 surcharge for this “privilege.” The statute which provides this “no point” plea is called the unsafe driving statute. The basic theory in accepting a “no point” or “zero point” plea bargain is to potentially avoid motor vehicle points on your license in order to keep your auto insurance premiums lower and, potentially, to avoid the suspension of your driving privileges where you are in danger of accumulating 12 motor vehicle points which will result in a temporary suspension of driving privileges. However, it should be pointed out that there are a number of situations in which your acceptance of such a “no point” or “zero point” plea bargain may adversely affect your rights without your knowledge. One such situation is where you have already previously pled guilty to unsafe driving on more than one occasion. Your third guilty plea to unsafe driving within a certain period of time will subject you to four motor vehicle points when you may be under the mistaken belief that you will not be receiving any motor vehicle points. It was a good, quality weekly newspa per. But it had now become a regional weekly newspaper for a fair number of towns, surrounding Lincoln Park. No longer was its focused just on the peo ple and events of Lincoln Park. It was somewhere in between the hammering, the sawing, and measuring Your Tru BrianD I was 29 years old at the time. I was working as a proofreader and editor, of the patient educational literature, for a large toothbrush manufacturer. I felt as though my wheels were turning in the sand. I had this little office in the back of the building. Truth to be told, it had served as a broom closet. My boss was very kind and allowed me to set it us as a converted office. I was out of the mainstream of the rest of the people. My little office was just across from the mail-room. Proof reading is tedious, detailed and an in credibly boring job. Still, it was a job. But I was just feeling restless, I longed to write more and proofread less. #Local SEO #Google Ads In early June of 1983, for one week of our lives, Dad, Uncle Ed and I woke up early and worked till the sun set. For we had built a little barn. A most proud and wonderful accomplishment. Dad and I had taken a week’s vacation time, from our jobs. Uncle Ed had recently retired. His plan was to move to Neva da, with his wonderful wife, Joy, in the beginning of July.

“Look, son, I think you should start your own newspaper!” Dad said to me in a most serious, no-nonsense tone. “Dad, I don’t think I could ever do that,” I said to me beloved father. “Don’t sell yourself short, son,” Dad re plied. “I don’t know Dad, I don’t know if I’m that good of a writer,” I nervously replied to my father. “Yes you are son! Don’t sell yourself short,” Dad told me with great, earnest conviction. That afternoon, Dad spoke words of encouragement to me. Now at 70, I look back at that very afternoon, and I think that my dear father’s words of his deep belief in me, was a pivotal point in my life. Shortly thereafter, I did leave the tooth brush company to start my own news paper, The Lincoln Park Journal. It was probably one of the most exciting roller coaster rides that I have ever taken in my life. There were times that the financial struggle brought me to tears. There were times when I felt I was doing something very important for the good people of Lincoln Park. But all in all, I learned all so very much. I never thanked Dad for his words of encouragement that he gave to me that Summer afternoon, back in 1983. Now at 70, and fighting Stage IV Hypertro phic Cardiomyopathy, I so deeply regret that I never thanked Dad for his im mense belief in my God given talent to be a writer.

It is engraved in the cham bers of my heart and mind with indelible ink. Dad was sawing a two by four, that was traversed across two old wooden saw horses. Dad stopped sawing, as I was hammering a sheet of plywood into place, Dad looked me square in the eye and said to me, “listen to me, Richie.” I stopped hammering the plywood, along the barn’s sidewall in progress.

In memory, I return to the week that Dad, Uncle Ed and I built a little barn. Truly, it was a turning point in my life. Dad’s encouragement is a debt I can only recognize, but sadly never repay. Life is short. None of us have a guarantee for tomorrow. Love one another. Forgive, forgive and forgive others for the wrongs they have done to you. Tell your loved ones that you love them. ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS Does Majoring in STEM Lead to a STEM Job After Graduation? STEM Majors Earned More Than Other STEM Workers By, Jennifer Cheeseman Day and Anthony Martinez Majoring in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) does not guarantee a job in a STEM occupation but it typically means a bump in pay. Among the 50 million employed college graduates ages 25 to 64 in 2019, 37% reported a bachelor’s degree in science or engineering but only 14% worked in a STEM occupation, according to the Census Bureau’s most recent 2019 American Community Survey 1-year estimates. This translates into less than a third (28%) of STEM-educated workers actually working in a STEM job. STEM workers who majored in a STEM field in college typically made higher salaries than those who did not: on average, $101,100 vs. $87,600. STEM jobs include computer occupations, mathematicians and statisticians, engineers, life scientists, and physical and social scientists. About half of the STEM jobs were in computer occupations and an other 29% in engineering in 2019. STEM workers who majored in a STEM field in college typically made higher salaries than those who did not: on average, $101,100 vs. $87,600. The vast majority (62%) of college-educated workers who majored in a STEM field were employed in non-STEM fields such as non-STEM management, law, education, social work, accounting or counseling. In addition, 10% of STEM college graduates worked in STEM-related occupations such as health care. The path to STEM jobs for non-STEM majors was narrow. Only a few STEM-related majors (7%) and non-STEM majors (6%) ultimately ended up in STEM occupations. About half of workers who majored in engineering (52%) or computer, mathematics, and statistics majors (51%) worked in STEM. The difference between those who majored in engineering and computer, mathematics, and statistics majors was not statistically significant. That means that about as many people with a computer or engineering background were just as likely to be employed in non-STEM occupations. Some may have worked in STEM initially but transitioned later to a non-STEM occupation such as management. Workers who studied other types of STEM majors found employment in STEM occupations at much lower rates. Just over a quarter of physical science majors (28%), for example, were employed in STEM. The per centages were even lower for STEM majors in biology, environmental, and agricultural science (16%), psychology (10%) and social science (9%). In addition, STEM jobs attracted more workers with advanced degrees. About 40% of college-educated STEM workers had a graduate degree. Majoring in STEM Pays Off There was an earnings boost for STEM majors in all STEM occupation groups, except for life scientists such as biologists and agricultural and food scientists. Highest and lowest earners: • STEM-educated workers in computer occupations had the highest median annual earnings among STEM occupations at $105,300. • Engineers were a close second, earning a median $102,200 a year. • Life scientists earned the least, at $66,540 a year. In the following year, she was charged with securities fraud, obstruction of justice, and conspiracy.
