(609) 443-5330 (609) 443-5331 As indicated on our website, there are numerous charges that are heard in the Municipal Courts in the State of New Jersey. These range from low level motor vehicle violations such as going through a stop sign, careless driving, failure to maintain your lane and other charges that generally carry very low fines and two or less motor vehicle points. If you have been charged with any motor vehicle violation that carries more than two motor vehicle points upon a conviction, we suggest that you obtain the advice of counsel before going to court. The purpose of this article is to provide the reader with some information as to whether or not they need legal representation in Municipal Court on a low-level motor vehicle violation that carries two or less motor vehicle points. why choose a catholic cemetery? A Catholic cemetery is a holy and sacred place. It is a place of prayer and hope that is both a consolation to the bereaved and an inspiration to the living … a place where those who have worshipped and prayed together in life now await the resurrection. 973-694-5000 (609) 443-5330 (609) 443-5331 The bottom line is that, regardless of what type of motor vehicle violation you are charged with, you should seek the advice of an attorney before appearing in Municipal Court by yourself and entering into a plea bargain which may subject you to other legal ramifications of which you were not aware. Typically, when we receive a call for a motor vehicle violation, we initially attempt to obtain as much information as possible from the potential client to determine whether or not they will require legal representation given their individual circumstances. Accordingly, please feel free to contact us to discuss your individual situation to determine whether or not legal representation is required. 659 Abbington Dr., #403 East Windsor, NJ 08520 (Twin Rivers Shopping Mall, Rt 33) how do i pre-plan? The monetary cost of these “no point” or “zero point” violations are rather excessive in that you are required to pay a $250.00 surcharge for this “privilege.” The statute which provides this “no point” plea is called the unsafe driving statute. The basic theory in accepting a “no point” or “zero point” plea bargain is to potentially avoid motor vehicle points on your license in order to keep your auto insurance premiums lower and, potentially, to avoid the suspension of your driving privileges where you are in danger of accumulating 12 motor vehicle points which will result in a temporary suspension of driving privileges. However, it should be pointed out that there are a number of situations in which your acceptance of such a “no point” or “zero point” plea bargain may adversely affect your rights without your knowledge. One such situation is where you have already previously pled guilty to unsafe driving on more than one occasion. Your third guilty plea to unsafe driving within a certain period of time will subject you to four motor vehicle points when you may be under the mistaken belief that you will not be receiving any motor vehicle points. Another such situation where you potentially will need legal representation is where the low-level motor vehicle violation is the result of a motor vehicle accident. This federal program allows taxpayers to enter into an agreement, with the IRS, that settles a tax debt for less than the full amount owed. Sometimes taxpayers are able to settle for significantly less, especially if they have low in come and few assets. This type of agreement is an option when tax payers can’t pay their full tax liabilities or when paying the entire balance owed would cause fi nancial hardship. The goal is a compromise that suits the best interests of both the taxpayer and the IRS. Individual taxpayers and business owners should review the IRS’s Offer in Compromise Booklet to learn how these agreements work and decide if it could help them resolve their tax debts. When reviewing OIC applications, the IRS considers the taxpayer’s unique set of facts and any special circumstances affecting the taxpay er’s ability to pay, as well as: • Income • Expenses • Asset equity The booklet covers everything a taxpayer needs to know about submitting an offer in com promise, including: • Who is eligible to submit an offer • How much it costs to apply • How the application process works The booklet also includes the forms that tax payers must complete as part of the offer in com promise process. The current application fee is $205. However, taxpayers who meet the defini tion of a low-income taxpayer don’t have to pay this fee. U.S. History MARCH 25TH IS NATIONAL MEDAL OF HONOR DAY
By Lauren Kowlacki
National Medal of Honor Day is observed annually on March 25th to commemorate the creation of the Medal of Honor, the highest military dec oration in the United States. The Medal of Honor is awarded to members of the U.S. military who have demonstrated exceptional bravery and selfless ness in the face of danger. The first Medals of Honor were awarded in 1863 during the Civil War, and since then, more than 3,500 service members have received this prestigious honor. The medal is awarded to those who have demonstrated extraordinary acts of valor, selflessness, and heroism, often in the face of great personal risk. One of the most well-known recipients of the Medal of Honor is World War II veteran Desmond Doss. Doss was a medic in the U.S. Army, and he was awarded the Medal of Honor for his bravery and selflessness during the Battle of Okinawa. Despite being under heavy enemy fire, Doss refused to abandon his wounded comrades and continued to provide medical care to the wounded and injured soldiers. Doss’ bravery and unwavering commitment to his fellow soldiers inspired countless others and cemented his place in the annals of American military history. His story was later made into a film, “Hacksaw Ridge,” which told the story of his incredible acts of courage and compassion in the face of danger. The Medal of Honor is a symbol of the highest ideals of the U.S. military, and its recipients are true heroes who have demonstrated exceptional brav ery and selflessness in the line of duty. On National Medal of Honor Day,
we take the time to recognize and honor these remarkable individuals who have put the needs of others before their own and made the ultimate sacri fice to protect their country and fellow service members. The National Medal of Honor Museum in Arlington, Texas will serve as the premier national institution dedicated to the stories, impact, and legacy of the service members who went on to become Medal of Honor recipients. According to the museum website, the facility is slated to open in March 2025. “The National Medal of Honor Museum will enshrine the stories of Medal of Honor recipients for future generations,” Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Army Gen. Mark A. Milley said. Since 1861 when the Medal of Honor was established, 3,520 soldiers, sail ors, airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen have been awarded the nation’s highest award for valor. Their stories will now live in the Dallas area museum, Milley said. “Visi tors will come to understand the meaning and price of freedom.” The museum will also include an education center. Milley said he hoped that the recipients’ stories of valor will inspire the nation’s youth and moti vate them to be their best. The chairman provided some examples of those who received the medal. Retired Army Maj. Gen. Pat Brady served as an ambulance helicopter pi lot during the Vietnam War. He volunteered to rescue wounded men from

609.245.8550 WWW.GSINGHMD.COM National Medal of Honor Day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by our military service members and the incredible bravery they demonstrate in the face of danger. Desmond Doss and Retired Army Maj. Gen. Pat Brady are just two of the many remarkable individuals who have earned the Medal of Honor, and their stories serve as an inspiration to all of us. On this day, we pay homage to the Medal of Honor recipients and their unwavering dedication to serving their country and their fellow service members. CHILD, ADOLESCENT & ADULT PSYCHIATRIST “That story is incredible, simply incredible. And so is that of every Medal of Honor recipient,” Milley said. Their stories of heroism, service and valor must be shared, he added. And that’s exactly what the museum will do. Milley also told stories of some of the 15 Medal of Honor recipients who attended the groundbreaking, as well as others not present. “It’s those stories that will document our country’s bravery, that gives pur pose to our entire military. It’s their heroism,” he said. “Why did they do it? They did it for each other. They did it for their team mates, but they also did it for you and I and for a document called the Consti tution, which is the North Star for all of us in uniform,” Milley said. “Every single one of us in uniform is willing to die for that idea,” he said, referring to the Constitution and the freedoms it provides every American. With this project, Americans will gather to learn and pay tribute to our country’s bravest heroes in a state-of-the-art facility. Through recipient stories of courage and valor, the Museum will inspire current and future generations to discover and develop the shared values inherent in every Medal of Hon or recipient — COURAGE & SACRIFICE, COMMITMENT & INTEGRITY, CITIZENSHIP & PATRIOTISM. a site in enemy-held territory that was reported to be heavily defended and blanketed by fog. To reach the site, Brady descended through heavy fog and smoke while hov ering slowly along a valley trail, turning his helicopter sideward to blow away the fog with the backwash from his rotor blades. Despite the unchallenged, close-range enemy fire, he found the dangerously small site where he successfully landed and evacuated two badly wounded South Vietnamese soldiers. He was then called to another area completely covered by dense fog where U.S. casualties lay only 50 meters from the enemy. Two aircraft had previously been shot down and others had made unsuccessful attempts to reach the site earlier in the day. With unmatched skill and extraordinary courage, Brady made four flights to this embattled landing zone and successfully rescued all the wounded. On his third mission of the day, Brady once again landed at a site surround ed by the enemy. The friendly ground force, pinned down by enemy fire, had been unable to reach and secure the landing zone. Although his aircraft had been badly damaged and his controls were partial ly shot away during his initial entry into the area, he returned minutes later and rescued the remaining injured. Shortly afterward, obtaining a replace ment aircraft, Brady was requested to land in an enemy minefield where a platoon of U.S. soldiers was trapped. A mine detonated nearby, wounding two crew members and damaging his helicopter. Despite this, he managed to fly six severely injured patients to medical aid. Throughout that day, Brady used three helicopters to evacuate 51 seriously wounded men, many of whom would have perished without prompt medical treatment, according to his medal citation.

QUESTION: What is Optomap retinal imaging?
ANSWER:
The optomap ultra-widefield retinal image is a unique technology that captures more than 80% of your retina in one panoramic image while traditional imaging methods typically only show 15% of your retina at one time. Your retina (located in the back of your eye) is the only place in the body where blood vessels can be seen directly. This means that in addition to eye conditions, signs of other diseases (for example, stroke, heart disease, hypertension and diabetes) can also be seen in the retina. Early detection of life-threatening diseases like cancer, stroke, and cardiovascular disease. It also facilitates early protection from vision impairment or blindness. Early signs of these conditions can show on your retina long before you notice any changes to your vision or feel pain. While eye exams include a look at the front of the eye to evaluate health and prescription changes, a thorough screening of the
free. It is suitable for every age, even children. The capture takes less than a second. Images are available immediately and you can see your own retina and exactly what your eye care practitioner sees in a 3D animation. Most importantly, early detection means successful treatments can be administered and reduces the risk to your sight and health.

My little column made such an impression upon the Troop Committee, that I was given the opportunity to write a feature article about the Klondike Derby of 1965, which appeared in the pages of the Lincoln Park Herald. At 12 years old, I had made the big time as a writer. I then began writing for my school newspaper, and from that point on, my confidence grew. I began to earn some degree of respect from the other boys in my class. Sure, there were still a few wise guys who would mock me out when I dropped a fly ball, but for the most part I was beginning to be more accepted by the other lads. In the past couple of weeks, I have developed a greater appreciation for the gift that my former Patrol Leader, Tom Meseck, gave to me in ap pointing me to be the Patrol Scribe of the Beaver Patrol. I never really thanked Tom for that kind gift and his vote of confidence in me. I have no idea where Tom Meseck is today. I hope and pray that he is alive and well. In prayer, I now thank him for believing in me, when so many of the other boys mocked and ridiculed me for being the strike out king of the old gang. In all so many ways, I think God inspired Tom to choose me for Patrol Scribe. It is all so very true; God works in mysterious ways. Richard Mabey Jr. is a freelance writer. But more than just being the Assistant Patrol Leader, Tom also knighted me to be the Patrol Scribe. The job of the Patrol Scribe was to write a weekly column for Troop 170’s weekly news letter. After having all those strike outs, when I got up at bat playing baseball with the gang, I now found a medium where I could shine like a diamond. “Beaver Patrol Happenings” became one of the favorite col TOP $

I grew up in the small town of Lincoln Park. I was a sensitive boy. I was very studious and read many, many books. I just loved to read. I would read one or two books a week. The Lin coln Park Museum, on Main Street, was the town library at the time. I think that they had about 300 books in the whole library. My mother encouraged me to read. And, once a week, when I was very young, Mom would bring me to the library to take out a book or two, to read. I came into the world with a

heart defect known as a Myocardial Bridge. It wasn’t until recently that my Cardiologist did an extensive series of cardiac tests and a genetic study that showed that I have a mutated MY-H7 Gene. It sounds like something out of Stan Lee’s imagination, popping off the pages of an X-Men comic book, but a mutated MY-H7 Gene is the cause of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. As my Cardiologist recently told me, I always did have HCM, it just wasn’t fully diagnosed until recent ly. In defense of my former Cardiologists, HCM is the single most difficult heart disease for a Cardiologist to diagnose. As a result of having these heart problems, I wasn’t very good at sports. I would get easily winded. I wasn’t as strong as the other boys in my class. I would often get mocked and ridiculed by the wise guys in my class. Even my grade school gym teacher would mock me and ridicule me, when I would only be able to make it halfway up, climbing the rope in the school gymnasium. I was 11 years old and in the sixth grade, when God directed me to find my purpose un der Heaven. I had been blessed, by Divine Spir it, with the gift of putting words down on paper to move people’s hearts. What may have seemed like an ordinary moment in a boy’s life, was a monumental and sacred event for me. I had just joined Boy Scout Troop 170 in Sep tember of 1964. I had an incredibly wonderful Patrol Leader, Tom Meseck. He was a kind soul, who saw something good in me. I was only in the

HELPING CHILDREN COPE WITH EMERGENCIES Regardless of your child’s age, he or she may feel upset or have other strong emotions after an emergency. Some children react right away, while others may show signs of difficulty much later. How a child reacts and the common signs of distress can vary according to the child’s age, previous experiences, and how the child typically copes with stress. • Family resources • Relationships and communication among family members • Repeated exposure to mass media coverage of the emergency and after math • Ongoing stress due to the change in familiar routines and living condi tions • Cultural differences • Community resilience Timmy’s Story: A SENSORY FRIENDLY BIRTHDAY By, Pam Teel Young Author Tim Rohrer, who has overcome many obstacles in his life due to his autism, is set to release his second children’s book. The book is a sequel to his first book, Timmy’s Story: A Story About Autism and Friendship . His first book, focuses on inclusion, and is based on his own past life experiences. Children react, in part, on what they see from the adults around them. When parents and caregivers deal with a disaster calmly and confidently, they can provide the best support for their children. Parents can be more reassur ing to others around them, especially children, if they are better prepared. The amount of damage caused from a disaster can be overwhelming. The destruction of homes and separation from school, family, and friends can create a great amount of stress and anxiety for children. The emotional impact of an emergency on a child depends on a child’s char acteristics and experiences, the social and economic circumstances of the family and community, and the availability of local resources. Not all children respond in the same ways. Some might have more severe, longer-lasting reac tions. The following specific factors may affect a child’s emotional response: His second book, Timmy’s Story: A Sensory Friendly Birthday, also is a reflection of his past, and teaches one about autism through the eyes of someone who lived it. For those with autism, sensory sensitivities may make birthday parties difficult to enjoy. Tim’s second book tells a true story, with that in mind, about how his teacher and his classmates made his birthday party one that he could enjoy. Tim’s brother Daniel, who is a senior at Allentown High School, is doing his senior practicum helping behind the scenes of “Tips4Inclusion.” He did the book editing for his brother. Tim has not only become an author but a speaker, self-advocate, and educator of disabilities. He has been asked to speak at schools, conferences, and has also received a commendation from the NJ State Senate and Assemblymen. He is also a managing partner of a teen founded nonprof it organization called 5Help Foundation. To learn more about Tim and the amazing resources he created, check out his website at: https://tips4inclusion.wixsite.com/disabilityinclusion. Tim’s new book is now available to purchase on Amazon. • Direct involvement with the emergency • Previous traumatic or stressful event • Belief that the child or a loved one may die • Loss of a family member, close friend, or pet • Separation from caregivers • Physical injury • How parents and caregivers respond Setting a good example for your children by managing your stress through healthy lifestyle choices, such as eating healthy, exercising regularly, getting plenty of sleep, and avoiding drugs and alcohol, is critical for parents and caregivers. When you are prepared, rested, and relaxed you can respond better to unexpected events and can make decisions in the best interest of your family and loved ones. The following tips can help reduce stress before, during, and after a disas ter or traumatic event. Before: • Talk to your children so that they know you are prepared to keep them safe. • Review safety plans before a disaster or emergency happens. Having a plan will increase your children’s confidence and help give them a sense of control. During: • Stay calm and reassure your children. • Talk to children about what is happening in a way that they can under-

stand. Keep it simple and appropriate for each child’s age. After: • Provide children with op portunities to talk about what they went through or what they think about it. Encourage them to share concerns and ask ques tions. • You can help your children feel a sense of control and manage their feelings by encouraging them to take action directly related to the disaster. For example, children can help others after a disaster, including
unable to talk about them. Their emotions may lead to increased arguing and even fighting with siblings, parents/caregivers or other adults. For children with special needs: Children who need con tinuous use of a breathing machine or are confined to a wheelchair or bed, may have stronger reactions to a threatened or actual disas ter. They might have more intense distress, worry or anger than children without special needs because they have less control over day to-day well-being than other people. The same is true for
volunteering to help com munity or family members in a safe environment. Children should NOT participate in disaster cleanup activities for health and safety reasons. • It is difficult to predict how some children will respond to disasters and traumatic events. Because parents, teachers, and other adults see children in different situations, it is important for them to work together to share information about how each child is coping after a traumatic event. Common Reactions: The common reactions to distress will fade over time for most children. Children who were directly exposed to a disaster can become upset again; behavior related to the event may return if they see or hear reminders of what happened. If children continue to be very upset or if their reactions hurt their schoolwork or relationships then parents may want to talk to a professional or have their children talk to someone who specializes in chil dren’s emotional needs. Learn more about common reactions to distress: For infants to 2-year-olds: Infants may become more cranky. They may cry more than usual or want to be held and cuddled more. For 3 to 6-year-olds: Preschool and kindergarten children may return to behaviors they have outgrown. For example, toileting accidents, bed-wetting, or being fright ened about being separated from their parents/caregivers. They may also have tantrums or a hard time sleeping. For 7 to10-year-olds: Older children may feel sad, mad, or afraid that the event will happen again. Peers may share false information; however, parents or caregivers can correct the misinformation. Older children may focus on details of the event and want to talk about it all the time or not want to talk about it at all. They may have trouble concentrating. For preteens and teenagers: Some preteens and teenagers respond to trauma by acting out. This could include reckless driving, and alcohol or drug use. Others may become afraid to leave the home. They may cut back on how much time they spend with their friends. They can feel overwhelmed by their intense emotions and feel
children with other physical, emotional, or intellectual limitations. Children with special needs may need extra words of reassurance, more explanations about the event, and more comfort and other positive physical contact such as hugs from loved ones.
