SUPERHEROES FROM NEW JERSEY By Surabhi Ashok

While many heroes cel ebrate their New York ori gins, a number of the Mar vel superheroes everyone knows and loves are actu ally from a state just down south, New Jersey. One of the most popu lar of the selection is Ms. Marvel, or Kamala Khan, who takes on the powers of shapeshifting and elastici ty and lives in Jersey City. Already a popular comic character, she appears in her own television show on Disney + and even The Marvels, a recent movie that came out last year.

The Toxic Aveng er came to be after landing in toxic waste and adopting super strength. He quickly became a benevolent figure, using his transformation as a way to help the people in his city and state.

From Springfield, Speed, or Thomas Shepherd, is a member of the Young Avengers, a group of teenage superheroes. His prima ry power is his agility and quickness.
