“Cinnegal” : A Tenebrese pastry served with a crème spread or topped with a glaze depending on personal preference or, in formal settings, the time of day it’s being served. “What sort of snicket he’s gotten himself struck by” : A play on the Tenebrese colloquialism “meddlesome snicket.” In this instance, it’s being observed that someone has gotten into a particular (unfortunate, troubling, etc.) situation unknown to the curious observer. Chapter Two: Affairs of the Afflicted “Cocholee” : a warm beverage with a rich taste and aroma commonly served in the morning or evening after dinner. Chapter Three: Hell’s Hound “Of all the creatures in Tenebris, this was one most unnatural” : In some areas of Tenebris, there are those that believe the cerbertes is a creature not of this world. Created by a long-forgotten god, these people believe the cerbertes escaped Welrelm upon the collapse of the realm in the aftermath of a great and terrible war that destroyed all
