Don't Be a Victim of The "Grandparent Scam" Watch out for the "grandparent scam," as criminals try to trick caring grand- parents out of thousands of dollars by calling and pretending to be a grand- child or friend in distress. Using infor- mation from the Internet, scammers can learn enough about your family to target you and make their appeals for cash sound very real. No matter how concerned you may be, stop and think. Beware of sending money and verify before responding! This may not im- pact you directly, however you should consider sharing this information with family members who may be targeted with this scam.
