According to the Zillow Group Consumer Housing Trends Report, 89 percent of sellers list their home with a real estate agent. The sellers surveyed listed trustworthiness, responsiveness, local market knowledge, a good reputation in the community, and a strong sales track record as the most important at- tributes in a top-notch agent. Also, home sellers looked at how local agents marketed other homes in their community.
A great real estate agent can make a huge difference in many aspects of your selling experience, from your stress level to your profits. Agents have the knowledge and experience needed to make the process simple and faster too. The internet makes it easy simple to look up top agents in your area. Local newspapers, magazines and community events also help you “get to know” an agent even better. Look up real estate agents’ online profiles to learn how long they’ve been in the industry, how many sales they’ve done, and what designa- tions they may have earned. Pay attention to how and where they market their listings, and if they use professional photos or not. Any awards, professional groups and designations they’ve earned is a plus! These affiliations are a sign they’ve taken the time to learn about that particular niche. Homeowners might be tempted to avoid hiring a real estate agent to save on paying the real estate commission and instead sell their home themselves. But data and numerous studies show that “Sale By Owner,” saves a small commission fee but costs more in the end with time, other fees and that other realtors don’t show the home. Experienced agents earn their fees by the marketing and expertise they bring to you. Most importantly, they also market and exposing your house to the broadest possible audience to get the best offers while negotiating on your behalf.
