Child Car Safety: Interior Trunk Release To a child, the trunk of a vehicle can be the perfect place to hide and play. Teach children that the trunk is not a hiding spot, and always keep car keys out of reach. Almost all vehicles on the market today have an interior trunk release, so make sure your children know how to use it if they get stuck. If a child is missing, the trunk should be one of the first places you check.

Dancer wants to safeguard personal information stored at MVC Assemblyman Ron Dancer wants to safeguard personal information from identity theft and has introduced a bill that would protect the per- sonal information stored by the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission. Dancer’s bill would require the MVC to encrypt all data transmitted by the commission. “The MVC must find an effective way to protect our personal informa- tion,” said Dancer (R-Ocean). “Agencies that handle personal information in a digital age have a responsibility to safeguard data. Cybercriminals are getting smarter and finding more creative ways to steal our information. This means we need to be proactive, not reactive.” The bill (A4758) would also require the MVC’s chief administrator to find a way to generate driver’s license and identification numbers in a way that protects personal information from being determined. In recent years, the algorithm that generated license numbers was made public. This leak compromised data stored at DMVs across the country. “Other states have already taken the proper steps to safeguard informa- tion, and New Jersey needs to do the same,” said Dancer. “We must do everything in our power to stop these criminals from having access to our private data and personal information.”
