Local Students Present Check Donations for RISE and Jewish Family Childrens Service (JFCS) Earmarked for Food Distribution. The Velagapudi Family started a GoFundMe fundraiser to raise mon- ey for families in need during the COVID-19 health emergency. They raised $2,556, giving $1000 cash to RISE, and donating checks in the amount of $900 to JFCS and $1,000 to RISE, all raised and provided to support food distribution efforts in our local community. Eleanor Wilton of Girl Scout Troop 70913 Earns Girl Scout Gold Award.
Eleanor Wilton’s Gold Award project, entitled “Stress Management and Coping Skills”, consisted of planning, organizing and leading workshops for middle schoolers to learn about stress from an age-appropriate sci- entific perspective, have open discussions about stress and explore cop- ing techniques, and the creation and distribution of informational pam- phlets for both students and parents about stress and coping skills. The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award in Girl Scouting, with only approximately 5% of eligible Girl Scouts achieving this prestigious scout recognition.
