Hanson, chairman of the NJHOF. “We also are pleased that proceeds from the induction will benefit our permanent museum at American Dream.” The Hall of Fame expects to announce its incoming class on April 30; the inductees were elected in late 2018 in a process that included the public voting. All living inductees are scheduled to attend the ceremony at the Paramount, which is part of the Asbury Park Convention Hall complex. Announcement of musical performers for the star-studded induction is to be made in June. “Our 11th annual induction ceremony will be a celebration of another stellar class of Jersey legends, and the culmination of our $10 million capital cam- paign,” says Steve Edwards, president of the NJHOF. In other New Jersey Hall of Fame news: • The museum is scheduled to open in December 2020 at the American Dream complex. • A hologram time capsule will be sited at Terminal A in Newark airport, and will include holographic interviews with inductees Connie Chung, Mary Higgins Clark, Tommy James, Wyclef Jean, Mark Kelly and Steven Van Zandt. • More than 200 Michael Graves-designed posters are being displayed at terminals A, B and C. ABOUT THE NJHOF: The Foundation for New Jersey Hall of Fame is a non-profit organization honoring citizens who have made invaluable contributions to society, the State of New Jersey, and the world beyond. Since 2008, the NJHOF has hosted 10 ceremonies for over 140 notable individuals and groups in recognition of their induction into the Hall of Fame. The NJHOF en- deavors to present schoolchildren with significant and impactful role models to show that they can – and should – strive for excellence. The New Jersey Hall of Fame Mobile Museum, designed by architect Michael Graves, has attracted over 300,000 visitors. For more information on the NJHOF, its mission and inductees, go to www.njhalloffame.org. NEED ALLERGY RELIEF? Acupuncture is a great natural treat- ment option for seasonal allergies.
Dr. Lee is incredibly skilled, patient, and compassionate. I had pain and weakness on my left side, and I walked in limping, walked out pain free and walking almost normally. If it wasn’t my own experience, I wouldn’t believe it. But he truly helped me that dramatically in just my first session. I have been to the hospital, doctors, therapists, and Dr. Lee gave me hope and relief like no other. He spent a long time with me and he gave me helpful advice and home instruction. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Lee. With gratitude, L.R.

HABITATION HAPPY with Jennifer Carnevali-Hollinger, CID More Than a Spring Fling The calendar doesn’t lie…spring time is here! And with winter still dominating our weekend plans and our wardrobes, it’s hard to remember that warmer weather is right around the corner. Everyone knows that springtime is the perfect time to deep clean and purge everything that’s built-up during our annual house-hibernation. We take the time to get into every nook and cranny, but why not take that refreshment a little further? Here are some simple interior design solutions to reinvigorate your home and your life, from the inside out. A…is for Accessories. The perfect way to revitalize your interior is to give your accessories a facelift. New throw pillows, draperies, area rugs and artwork can make the biggest difference and completely change the way you look at your space. Accessories can help alter a room’s existing color scheme and breath new life into your well-worn furniture. By either starting small or going all the way, you’ll surely feel the impact of your new home accessorizing. B…is for Bringing the outside in. Our landscaping is waiting to break ground again and our tulips are longing for sunlight. Nothing livens up your home more than life itself. Bringing greenery into an interior is a proven way to improve overall wellness and help you feel more comfortable in your surroundings. Let the fresh air in and keep it fresh through house plants, low maintenance succulents and freshly cut flowers. Green-ish thumbs recommended. C…is for Color, through paint that is. Nothing compares to a fresh coat of paint. Whether you’re sprucing up with the same SKU or bringing in a brand-new hue, the power of color is a mighty one. Light, softer colors will add airiness to a smaller space, while dark, bolder colors add drama and impact. You can change how you look at your home entirely with a few cans and a roller, or your local professional’s hand for a faster and easier turnaround. And when making a new selection, be sure to always take your lighting sources into account. Daylight and artificial light can change a color entirely. Applying these interior design tips and tricks is the simplest way to help you fall back in love with your home. Get inspired by the change of seasons and implement some well-deserved change for you and your family. It may seem like revitalization is slowly approaching outside, but no need to wait for it inside, too. Let me know how this advice as helped make your house feel more like home. - Jennifer jlcarnevali@gmail.com

The Logic of Logos and Catchphrases By Pam Teel A logo is the face of a brand. We often buy this or that item because its “face” is well known to the world. Some of the best logos convey a hidden subtext that represents the company’s values, goals, or history. Here are two well know logos and their hidden meanings. The shape and Font of the Dell Logo: The earliest version of the Dell logo was designed by the global strategic brand consultancy firm Siegel & Gale in 1984. It has been suggested that the slanted “E” depicts the founder’s ambition to “turn the world on its ear.” The emblem became immensely popular and is widely regarded as one of the most iconic and instantly recognizable logos in the technology industry. The current version of the Dell logo was introduced towards the end of 2010. It was created by Lippincott, another famous branding agency. The logo features the Museo typeface, which was designed by a Dutch type designer. The letters were further pushed to the left on both of the “Ls” and the “E” was tilted downward to a greater extent. Another prominent feature of the design comprised of the blue ring which surrounds and protects the iconic Dell logotype, resulting in a graphical appear- ance of a globe. The company’s new slogan, “The power to do more,” was placed underneath the ring. The use of blue color in the Dell logo signifies elegance, loyalty, reliability, confidence and intelligence. The Subway logo: The history of the Subway logo dates all the way back to the very first sandwich shop that the two original owners, DeLuca and Buck, opened. After changing the name of their restaurant to Subway, the two men developed a yellow logo with arrows coming out of the “S” and “Y” in Subway. This logo remained in place with only slight changes throughout the majority of Subway’s impressive growth until its first major change in 2002. At this point, the company began using thicker, italicized characters to spell Subway and changed the color scheme to green, yellow, and white. For a brief period of time from 2015 to 2016, Subway also used a single color variation of their logo in solid green. Recently, though, the Subway logo has un- dergone another significant change. In 2016, Subway unveiled their most recent logo, which featured somewhat of a return to the original logo, losing the italics and dark green border while also adding more curves to the logo. While the Subway logo has indeed undergone several different iterations, it’s interesting to see a company that has kept the basic design of their logo ever since they opened their very first location. The history of the Subway logo may be short compared to the lengthy history of some companies, but, nevertheless, it has certainly demonstrated plenty of staying power. The Subway logo makes use of dark, crisp greens in order to convey the idea of freshness as well as bright yellows to convey positivity and flavor.
Concerning the two arrows in the Subway logo – which have stayed with the logo no matter which version the com- pany, has come out with – Subway has long promoted their products to a very active, athletic audience. The arrows in the Subway logo serve to promote the idea of movement and motion. For active individuals who choose Subway over other, less-healthy fast food alternatives, this is a positive message. The arrows also convey the idea of speed, promot- ing the message that, in spite of the fact that Subway is fresh and healthy; it is also a very quick and convenient option.

Q: LEADERS IN LEAST INVASIVE PAIN & SPINE PROCEDURES How can Platelet Rich Plasma Treatment Help Shoulder and Knee Pain?
A:
Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy also referred to as PRP Therapy, is a progressive non-surgical treatment to treat a variety of conditions including arthritis, ten- don injuries, and ligament injuries. PRP is part of a group of state-of-the-art treatments collectively referred to as Regenerative Medicine. PRP treats an injured area naturally using your body’s own growth factors to accelerate healing. It has been shown to be safe and effec- tive for numerous joint and soft tissue injuries. It has been extensively researched in numerous medical journals and publications all over the world. Some of the many uses of Platelet Rich Plasma include osteoarthritis (degenera- tive arthritis) of the spine, knee, shoulder, hip, hands, and feet, as well as menis- cus tears, plantar fasciitis, and rotator cuff tears. The procedure is simple and is performed in the office. The PRP process begins when a small amount of the patient’s blood is removed from the arm and placed into a special container. The blood is then placed into a device called a centri- fuge which spins the blood to help the separate the portion of the blood which becomes concentrated with platelets, thereby giving the procedure its name. These platelets are important because they release growth factors to recruit stem cells and to assist in healing an injured area naturally. Once the PRP is isolated, it is injected to the injured area under the guidance of an ultrasound machine to help accelerate healing and reduce pain.
This healing works on the simple principle that your body is perfectly capable of healing itself. Your blood contains all the essential components that the body produces to repair tissue damage. Each time you have an injury, the platelets in your blood along with growth factors, stem cells, cytokines, and other elements create a scaffolding on the site. The damaged tissues use this framework to regenerate and repair. The entire process takes approximately one hour, and pa- tients are sent home the same day. Patients on average report more than 50% improvement in 6 weeks and up to 100% improvement in 12 weeks. This may eliminate the need for more aggressive and expensive treatment options such as long-term medication or surgery. In a recent study, researchers at Hospital for Special Surgery gave patients with early osteoarthritis an injection of PRP and then monitored them for one year. After one year of the PRP injection, physicians evaluated the knee cartilage with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). While previous studies have shown that patients with osteoarthritis can lose roughly five percent of knee cartilage per year, the Hospital for Special Surgery investigators found that a large majority of patients in their study had no further cartilage loss. At minimum PRP also prevented further knee deterioration.

Goodwill home medical equipment
Helping People Obtain Adequate Medical Equipment at a Cost By Pam Teel Lorraine Melani is the director of business development for Goodwill Industries. Lorraine represents the Home Medical Division. Her job is to create relationships between Goodwill and organizations so that they can sell equipment or get equipment donated to them. Goodwill Home Medical sells donated DME adult to pediatric that has been sanitized and refurbished at drastically discounted prices. They sell to the general public and to adult and pediatric facilities as well as schools for children with complex disabilities. They make equipment affordable for all thanks to generous donations. Lorraine goes into the public and creates relationships between Goodwill Home Medical and facilities, hospitals, schools, and the community. She has worked for Goodwill for three and a half years, and in that time she has created so many relationships and told so many people about Goodwill Home Medical through both the hospitals and through her networking contacts. Good Will Home Medical Equipment offers refurbished home medical equipment to individuals and families. They are the number one place to donate un-opened medical supplies in Philadelphia and South Jersey. They are a division of goodwill industries of Southern Jersey and Philadelphia. They wel- come tax deductable gifts to expand their services. A 501 (c) (3) non- profit organization, they collect gently used wheelchairs, walkers, canes, crutches, hospital beds, and more. All equipment is sanitized and refurbished at their facility in Bellmawr, NJ. With over 50 million people in America without health insurance, sometimes obtaining adequate medical treatment, prescriptions, and home medical supplies can be a challenge. Even for those with health insurance, strict rules and guidance can limit access to essentially needed equipment. To donate home medical supplies in Philly and South Jersey, contact Goodwill Home Medical Equipment. All of their donation centers accept medical equipment and supply donations. To find the nearest Goodwill, go to: www.goodwillnj.org. Financial donations help fund employment training and career services that prepare individuals with special needs for competitive employment. Your gift gives them a chance to overcome obstacles, a chance to work, earn a paycheck, and gain a better quality of life. The South experienced a net population gain from movers coming in from other regions of the United States. 2. Florida received the most movers from other states. 3. Los Angeles County had the highest number of people moving out, but also had the highest number moving in. These are just a few of the highlights in three recently released U.S. Census Bureau data products on migration at different geographic levels. Migration or geographic mobility refers to the movement of people from one location of residence to another. Movers to and from the South make up the largest domestic migration flows at the regional level. In 2018, about 1.2 million people moved to the South from another region, while only about 714,000 moved from the South to another region. This resulted in a net gain of about 512,000 people. If movers from abroad are included, the net gain from migration to the South is about 959,000 people. The South drew about 412,000 people from the Northeast, 356,000 from the Midwest, and 459,000 from the West. The region lost about 317,000 to the West and 276,000 to the Midwest. The South to Midwest flow does not differ statistically from the Midwest to South or South to West flows, and the Northeast to South, Midwest to South, West to South, and South to West flows do not differ statistically. The Northeast had the lowest overall mover rate in 2018, at 7.7 percent. The other three regions do not differ statistically from one another, at 10.4 percent for the Midwest, 10.8 percent for the South, and 10.7 percent for the West. Compared to the 2018 overall national mover rate of 10.1 percent, the Northeast mover rate is lower, the South and West mover rates are both higher, and the Midwest mover rate does not differ statistically. New York contributed the most to Florida’s inflow with 63,722 people moving from New York to Florida. This flow is between regions, from the Northeast to the South. The second-highest contributor was Georgia with 38,800 in movers. Leaving California. California had the most domestic out movers, with 661,026 people moving to another state within the past year. The states with the next highest outmigration flows are Texas with 467,338 out movers, New York with 452,580, and Florida with 447,586. Texas, New York and Florida do not differ statistically. Among the five states that received the most out movers from California, several are adjacent to California or nearby: Texas (63,174 out movers), Arizona (59,233), Washington (52,484), Oregon (50,109) and Nevada (47,513). Texas andWashington do not differ statistically fromArizona, andWashington, Oregon, and Nevada do not differ statistically from each other. The flow from California to Texas is between regions, from the West to the South. The Census Bureau also produces migration flows at the county level using the ACS five-year data. Estimates for these smaller geographies are based on a pooled five-year ACS sample rather than a single year. 229752
